What tego is

tego starts your coding agent with your rules already in place.

When the agent opens a file, runs a program or reaches a website, your operating system checks it against your rules and refuses what you ruled out. No second AI decides, so there's nothing for the agent to argue with.

How it works

• Kernel. Every file, program and website is checked by your operating system.
• Network proxy. (soon) A spend cap per project. A run that hits it pauses until the reset.
• SDK. (soon) Check your own agent's tool calls against the same rules.

What you get

• Rules from what you already wrote. tego reads your AGENTS.md and CLAUDE.md.
• The reason, not just a refusal. The agent hears which rule stopped it and keeps working.
• Stuck agents, flagged. When one goes quiet while the rest keep going, tego marks it.
• A record of every run. What it did, what was blocked, and the rule behind each block.

Where it runs

• Linux 6.1 and later. No root needed.
• macOS and Windows. Through a Linux VM, the way Docker Desktop does.
• Claude Code first. More agents to follow.

Status

tego is in early access. Install steps and the full reference arrive with the first release.
